śākalyas tat-sutaḥ svāṁ tu
pañcadhā vyasya saṁhitām
vātsya-mudgala-śālīya-

TRANSLATION
 | The son of Māṇḍūkeya, named Śākalya, divided his own collection into five, entrusting one subdivision each to Vātsya, Mudgala, Śālīya, Gokhalya and Śiśira.
