sūryaś cāstaṁ gatas tāvat
tamasā cāvṛtā diśaḥ
nimnaṁ kūlaṁ jala-mayaṁ
na prājñāyata kiñcana

TRANSLATION

Then, as the sun set, the forest was covered by darkness in every direction, and with all the flooding we could not distinguish high land from low.
