skandaḥ pradyumna-bāṇaughair
ardyamānaḥ samantataḥ
asṛg vimuñcan gātrebhyaḥ
śikhināpakramad raṇāt

TRANSLATION

Lord Kārtikeya was distressed by the flood of Pradyumna’s arrows raining down from all sides, and thus he fled the battlefield on his peacock as blood poured from his limbs.
