क्रीडते बालको भूत्वा पूर्ववत्सुमहोदधौ
संहारार्थं च शत्रूणां रक्षणाय च संस्थितः

krīḍate bālako bhūtvā pūrvavatsumahodadhau
saṁhārārthaṁ ca śatrūṇāṁ rakṣaṇāya ca saṁsthitaḥ

WORD BY WORD

krīḍate — enjoys pastimes; bālakaḥ — a boy; bhūtvā — becoming; pūrvavat — as before; su-mahodadhau — in a great ocean; saṁhāra — removal; artham — for the purpose; ca — and; śatrūṇām — of the enemies; rakṣaṇāya — for protection; saṁsthitaḥ — situated;

TRANSLATION

In this way the Lord becomes a child and enjoys pastimes as He had before in the great ocean (of milk). Lord Kṛṣṇa appeared to remove His enemies and protect (His devotees).
